Statement
PLUG FAIR. immerses its audience in a distorted walking tour. Participants are equipped with wireless headphones and enveloped in abstract sounds, music, and a fragmented fictional narrative. Led by a deadpan guide with a laptop taped to their head, the journey winds through urban spaces, such as dim car parks, sprawling housing estates, and echoing subway stations.
A second performer accompanies the audience, streamed live onto the guide's laptop. This spectral presence responds in real-time, visually interpreting the soundtrack from a hidden indoor location, thereby enhancing the immersive experience for the audience.
Blending performance, guided walk, and theatrical play, PLUG FAIR constructs an intangible realm within the physical world, offering a unique synthesis of art forms. Inspired by augmented reality and the experience of walking immersed in music, it delivers a layered, oversaturated, and immersive sensory experience.
'an intense, slightly worrying and very beautiful experience' - Margot Edström, IAC
